

Dorinda Peterson McGowan, A native of Dothan, Alabama is thrilled to announce her candidacy for District 2 Commissioner.
As an ex-military spouse, having reside on various military bases. Dorinda cultivated a profound appreciation for military families and veterans.
Dorinda attended Dothan city schools and graduated from Hallie Turner Private High School. She obtained a Business Administration diploma from Phillips College, Columbus, Ga; an associate degree in Arts & Sciences, Bremerton, Washington; Dorinda continued her studies in political science, communication and journalism at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her academic background integrates both practical knowledge and theoretical foundations.
Dorinda has held various roles, including assistant to the public affairs officer and assistant journalist at Bremerton Navy Shipyard. Her seven-year tenure at Washington Tax Services, as a tax resolution specialist, culminated in her becoming owner of U.S. Federal Tax Relief. Dorinda professional experience in the automobile industry, spans over two decades, beginning in 2005 with Mercedes Benz of Dothan. In 2010 she became an independent contractor, traveling extensively throughout the United States. Dorinda is now the owner of DP Automotive Services & Real Estate Investments.
Dorinda commissioner campaign centers on improving district 2's quality of life and safety. Her key initiatives include restoring our neighborhoods, revitalizing abandoned homes, streets, recreation centers and infrastructure. Promoting education, jobs and opportunities and standing with our seniors and veterans. Furthermore, she aims to support local businesses, churches, youth education programs and employment. Focusing on single families, homeless, while emphasizing health and wellness, crime prevention and addressing domestic and gun violence.
As a dedicated community advocate and a member of multiple private and public organizations, she exhibits a natural talent for motivating and helping others. Dorinda takes pleasure in participating in community and charitable events and is actively engaged in volunteer work for her community.
At the age of 12 she was baptized at North Highland Baptist Church; Her faith has been a guiding force throughout her life's journey. Dorinda is married to Euguene Mcgowan. A daughter of Amy and Willie Peterson. A mother of six adult children, a loving grandmother. Dorinda prioritizes family. Dorinda hobbies include camping, gardening and spending time with her pet poodles.
